Biography

 

Huw Reynolds is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where he trained as a Tenor under Tony Roden.

 

He began his singing carer as a chorister at Lincoln Cathedral. From there he joined the Chapel Choir of King Edwards School, Witley and with the school’s Bridewell opera company, Huw played led roles in The Mikado, Iolanthe, and excerpts of Le Nozze Di Figaro. Whilst at school, Huw joined the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, performing in numerous concerts and two world tours in 1996 and 1999. He was also selected to represent the United Kingdom in the Council of Europe International Choir, at the 1996 European Educational Summit in Kristiansand, Norway. At home in Surrey, Huw was involved in various amateur dramatic and Operatic societies.

In 1998 Huw began a Bachelor of Arts degree at the RNCM, and appeared in many of the college’s productions including Janácek’s Jenufa, Andreissen’s Die Marterie, The Steward in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, 1st Slave in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (including the World premiere of Die Zauberflöte arranged for Brass Ensemble), and as Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone.

Upon graduating in 2003 he joined Carl Rosa Opera’s UK national tour of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore.

He joined the chorus of the Norwegian National Opera in 2004 and became a permanent member in 2005.

Recently he appeared with Opera South (UK) as the principal role of Haroun in Bizet’s Djamileh.
